Going North
02:53
|
|||
(Spoken) This song is called "Going North"
Woke up scared. My nerves made themselves very known. Double-checked and I sure was alone, which is fine, but I guess it would be nice to have somebody care where I'm going tonight.
To my dismay I missed my flight after a two hour headache to the masses delight, and I didn't sleep well that night but I sure slept soundly.
Tried again the very next day. Wasted no time to be on my way. Started the million mile journey with my first step, pinched myself as my mother wept.
Then I started off towards the sky and away from me.
I'm gone, gone away
I'm gone, gone away
The air is this, my ears are ringing
My throat is dry but I can't stop singing
The pastel sunset wipes away the rancid upset
It's a little cold here and I miss my cat
But neither you or I would change where I'm at
She's just as bright here and the second sky is so wide and clear
I'm gone, gone away
I'm gone, gone away
I'm gone, gone away
I'm gone, gone away
I'm gone, gone away

I wonder what you'd think about me
I wonder if we'd still be friends
I wonder what you might say to me
When my time spinning around the sun ends
And I want you to know that I miss you
Sometimes I can't recall your face
I wanna live a life you'd be proud of
So that when I depart from this place
I could've lived for both of us
I try to keep your faith alive
So your treasures won't rust
And the smile and the heart that we loved can survive
I still remember when she told me
It was a standard summer day
I'd seen the two of you smiling days before
And here I was, just watching hers slip away
And i wish I'd gotten to know you
I still love to hear your songs
You left a legacy to fill stadiums
And a memory so pure and so strong
That you lived for all of us
I'll try to help your spirit thrive
And your treasures won't rust
So love and respect and deep in the west can survive

Empathy for Jasper
03:21
|
|||
Jasper's a man in gridlock
He misses his bus everyday
Since his car broke down and his girlfriend left
'Cause his hair is turning grey
Nobody seems to see him
Unless he doesn't wanna be seen
And he stares across to that other side
Where the grass seems oh so green
If you set the camera to grayscale, the sky won't ever be blue
And if you only say it enough times a lie seems true
The horizon never gets closer, we only have just enough time
And Jasper, the view is so lovely if you make the climb
His life has a lot of moments, excluding moments to himself
He has a drink and smoke then he cries at his joke, and he wishes he were anybody else
'Cause others don't ever have problems
Only Jasper has busted seams
It's the unique tale of a straight white male
And a mound of vague broken dreams.
If you set the camera to grayscale, the sky won't ever be blue
And if you only say it enough times a lie seems true
The horizon never gets closer, we only have just enough time
And Jasper, the view is so lovely if you make the climb
(solo)
Jasper I'd like you to know
That Jasper I care about you
Jasper I'd like you to come hang out, I've got half a table for two
Jasper I'd like you to know
That Jasper, I care about you
Jasper I'd like you to come hang out, I've got half a table for two
If you set the camera to grayscale, the sky won't ever be blue
And if you only say it enough times a lie seems true
The horizon never gets closer, we only have just enough time
And Jasper, the view is so lovely if you make the climb
Jasper, make the climb

The Earth revolves around the sun in an act of Socratic blasphemy
The Earth holds hope of a beautiful future and a love that will probably never be
If they keep you at 9,000 arms lengths, then someday won't be too soon
And if she determines what days are, may I introduce you to the moon
The sun has eight other conquests, that The Earth chooses to ignore
He waits and spins peers through a dirty lens and hopes today she'll knock at his door
If they keep you at 9,000 arms lengths, then someday won't be too soon
And if she determines what days are, may I introduce you to the moon
She keeps him warm cause she's so hot
When she lets him close it's a good day
She literally lights up his world
She knows he's never going away
Now listen
The Earth's not blameless here, there's some shade to throw his way
He let's the Moon revolve around him as well; every single day
She waits just like he does for him to realize
The him and the Sun will never be more than friends
She stays close and lights up his nights
Hoping and praying for this cycle to end
If they keep you at 9,000 arms lengths, then someday won't be too soon
So open your eyes to the night time, take a second to really see
If they keep you at 9,000 arms lengths, then someday won't be too soon
So open your eyes to the night time, take a second to really see the moon

Wren
02:39
|
|||
Little bird above me, come down and hear me
I'd like you to sit, sit and rest near me
And I know that you can fly, but a fall can still hurt you
And I cannot bear to see you cry
Little bird, oh I love to hear you sing.
In my hand I promise you, you won't have to fear a thing
And I know the world is fearsome but you have so much to bring
And I'll try to mend your broken wing
(whistling attempts)
Little bird, you're the best friend I've ever known
And I'd like to join you in the trees
You can teach me your song, we can dance among the branches
And take flight with beauty, grace and ease

The halls are quiet since you left
It's a little colder in my room
You're name is always so close to escaping my lips
And hanging in the gloom
I know you didn't understand
But you listened anyway
You had the kindest eyes and the warmest smile
And you always knew just what to say
And though I miss you so I know
The lilac tree is grateful for your presence
I miss you're giant ears and you're irrational fears
And I'm lost without your effervescence
I wish you could understand how cool you were
So gentle, so polite
You made friends with a cat that we thought you might kill
And you wouldn't bark at chipmunks until first light
Saltwater mishaps and trips to the lake
We set you free and you followed us right in
No one could ever love me better than you
And no one else could pull of a duet with a violin
And though I miss you so I know
The lilac tree is grateful for your presence
I miss you're giant ears and you're irrational fears
And I'm lost without your effervescence
I never thought I'd miss hair lying around
I never thought I'd miss seeing someone that I love falling down
I never thought I'd miss hair lying around
I'd never thought I'd miss-see someone I love falling down, falling down

Sleep Well, Luna
01:47
|
|||
The sun has gone away at the end of the day
The moment's over and there's no going back
I'm walking through a mess of symmetrical trees
Under a sky that's been splatter painted black
Lay down your head and rest your eyes
The stars will comfort the one who cries
Tomorrow comes with adventures and stories to tell
But right now sleep well, my Luna, sleep well
My Luna shines in the heavens and blesses the ground
Her smile casts a fair beam of brilliance around
Peace and rest to her who blessed us all
A vision of perfection in a place void of sound
Lay down your head and rest your eyes
The stars will comfort the one who cries
Tomorrow comes with adventures and stories to tell
But right now sleep well, my Luna, sleep well
